so lets get back to the point.
thread title is RPK - GANKS - NEW PLAYER GRIEFS - Remove PVP PTs to FIXthe proposed objective of the thread is clear, get control on rpk harassment to new players.
i think everyone agrees on that.so why eliminate the entire pvp point system to fix this?
what about all the people that don't rpk and want the pvp point system as it is?
why don't we focus on the rpk player?so my question to Charles is, can it be coded so no pvp point is granted for killing someone that is NOT pink?
or can it be made so that getting out of chaotic takes 10x longer? thus forcing an rpk player to
carefully consider the consequence of killing a newbie player? -

Here are the issues with the whole chao thing
1. There is no way to tell the level of a player (except specific polymorphs) but if a Mage uses Death Knight poly, how am I suppose to know if he's fresh 52 or 75+ ? People tend to forget the attacker is NOT always higher level than the target, but if you manage to get a kill, you'll go chaotic too and suffer from the same penalties.
2. You can toggle on/off the option to RPK (obviously you don't need it if the player is already pink) so allowing that feature encourages RPKing, which I 100% agree because it has always been part of the game. If you want to avoid getting RPKed, choose wisely your hunting grounds, otherwise make sure you have pots and venz scrolls in your hotkeys and if you flop, don't cry.
3. Unchaoing is already painful on this server (compared to Zelgo), I guess if I was a Mage, a Int Elf or a Knight, I wouldn't complain too much but I'm a freaking Dex Elf and it takes about 2 hours if not more to get back my lawful. It just happens that GP is one of the best place for lawful but it's also known for ganks, so you might want to think twice before going there. So 2 hours of not being able to purchase anything from the stores and being vulnerable to items loss for a single kill that took 10 seconds ? Personally, it's enough to discourage me from engaging any fight in the future...
You guys want to make it worst for RPKers but you don't realize, the system in place is already working as intented. You don't care if you go red ? Alright, just wait until you drop your first valuable item and we shall see. I've seen worthy items such as Demon Staff, +9 Homr, +8 Green Dragon Armor, +6 accs etc. drop from chao players on Zelgo. And now some of you want to increase the chao duration to 10 hours + and several items loss on top of that ??? L M A O
LONG STORY SHORT > RPK is part of the game and that leaves you 2 choices: fight back or venz, either way, if you die don't complain, just accept it and learn.

So pretty much RPKing isn't a problem because you actually see your attacker and you can do something about it in most situations. When it comes to COI ganks, then it's a different story and that's something that need to be fixed asap. Fortunately for us, Charles is working on a fix to see spotlights on the ground belonging to invisibile players.
I have to agree with Calvin on removing the points system for a simple fact -> no points, no ganks. COI jumps are boring as fuck and I seriously don't understand their meaning besides griefing players and farming points. We can't even describe those as PvP since the target don't even know what's coming and can't fight back.
While I like the idea of being ranked or seeing how many kills I've gotten, I also understand that having a point system discourage some players to fight (like myself, they don't want to feed higher levels or gankers once they reach lvl 60+).
Because let's be honest, kills mean nothing here anyway...
are you considered a strong player since -> you got the last hit on a target and got the credit for it during a fight ???
-> you killed someone with 5 pledgemates hiding in COI ???
-> you killed someone without earth resist as a Mage or Int Elf ???
I don't think so...
So yeah, we can keep track of our own kills in the LinWeb and still brag about it on forums and still have our names appear on the global when we get a kill but I feel like the thirst of points brings some players to opt for a much easier way a.k.a COI jumps.
LONG STORY SHORT > Less ganks and more PvP please.

I might have wishful thinking ... But there should be least 1 place we can play without pks. Like GP would sure be nice . Not much fun trying to get exp at lower lvls and a 75 comes with his buddy and ganks you . Just remove pk from this spot will help hold many to server ..

PvP is part of the game.. always has.. there are places you are safe. I'm no fan of lvl 70 pking lvl 50 or lower. That is just plain packing stats. No fun to be playing and trying to lvl. Then a higher player kills you for no reason but a stat. Players quit over this and more will with complaints in global. I think way things are should stay as is. BUT GP. . That waz made to help lvl.. was not made for pking lowbies. No exp gain when you get pked constant by high lvls.

Love how players say it's a choice lol .. not like there is a switch to say I only pve. There is no choice when 2 highends gank you. Nobody asked to take away pvp. I only see some ask that 1 place be safe from being attacked. Personally I hate pvp but in sieges. That is only place you have a choice. PvP is part of the game. As others say like other bigger games. Problem is in most the bigger games you have a choice. There is no ganks.you must join a pvp area to fight. This tread will never end . Less a decision is made.

As a new/future player, I'd say the current combat system is fine; the easy fix is to make some lvling or non-material zones (e.g. GP/SKT4F, where there is no boss) non-pvp. I played Zelgo, and find that some players just want to trigger anyone to get a sense of satisfication for themselves. If they need to vent out their negativity online, that is fine, but I don't want and do not need to be on the receiving end. As someone who just wants to enjoy the few hours of leisure time available each week after work, I have way better options than Lin1.

if u make GP noPvP area lvling will be extremely easy and it will just turn into grieving (people stealing mobs) with no way to fight back...
if u don't like GP, just go to other areas where XP is almost as good.

i dont know this possible or not,i think erase COI or invis spell will solve lots this RPK issues,die to enemy that you see they comming is ok,suck if you dont see they comming and BOOOOM 5-6 ppl appear on your side and next second you have allready lay down at ground, and in pvp its suck to when there is ppl that invis healing,why dont just erase it,so when pvp we can see all player that around area,i know there is eye meat+blind potion to use to see if there is invis ppl around or not,but hard to use it if in group pvp,and you need to detect to make it out from invis.sorry ,english is not my mother language dont know if you all understant what i write or not , this just my 2cent

That you can be 100% - 0% in 1-5 hits of triple from these elves or mages with destry... And a knight with stun at 70+ can finish off most low level players. COI or no you're not gunna be able to react in time.
Part of the game not saying do anything about it... But to say "keep pots and venz scroll handy" doesn't mean shit on a private server with some of these geared players... I'd vouche if i did 5 triple spams on my 52 int elf on your not 100% mr no earth resist level 55 knight and got 4 hits of proc. You'd die before realizing what in the fuck just happened. It's low chance don't get me wrong but it's a chance that has happened... my 52 elf shut down a DI boss in 3 triples cause it proc'd almost every arrow and I've had some where I've spent 230 mana on a DI boss not 1 thebes proc.
About a Dark Elf going Chaotic.... that's part of the class you chose... you can always request a friend help you farm lawful.... I spent many days on live and zelgo helping melee unchao so they could get to the fight much sooner than alone with no risk of drop. That's a personal choice.-Yoshi

I think that perhaps this is a good idea. Although I enjoy the prospect of being able to how that a Royal can actually get kills, I don't think that anyone should be able to /who someone and see their PvP kills. Like someone said, it only encourages the tryhards to get more kills than their adversaries, but at any cost. COI ganking has been a part of the game for as long as I can remember. I think it is a coward's way to fight, but that is how wars are won on here sometimes. COI gank can be demoralizing to some, but to my pledge it has only emboldened us. We level now so we can beat these COI ganking, un-skilled, honorless shitbag flying pissants. I don't care about blinding potion and floating eye meat. I'm not going to blind myself so I can see some coward coming. I walk everywhere I go ready for a fight anyway. If I get caught then that's my own fault.
The same as it will be when these COI ganking shitbars get spanked by us. It will be their own faults for creating the demons that destroy them. Don't nerf COI gank. Just get better at the game. I'm playing an underpowered class at the moment (Royal) and haven't been successfully COI ganked but 3 or 4 times lol. The same mechanic being used against me has now become a potential tool for my arsenal. Although I will fight most people on here in a fair fight, these faggots that have COI ganked me will suffer the same fate. Reap what you sow mother fuckers. Kenzaki and Blaster BP are coming for you. You know who you are.

I am a "new" player here. I haven't involved in a lot of pvp yet. and I had been killed in coi gank.
IMO:
pt system and rpk is not the issue. The pt system actually help allowing me to check if the player is active in pvp or not, so i can design if i want to stay in same map or not. Also, it motivate me to be better after seeing those player pk.
if you knew the guy is rpker and has high pk point, but you still want to stay at same map and fight for the mobs then I believe this is your stupid.
However, there is issue with coi gank. new player will not see it coming, I don't believe new player will carry around eyemeat and bind pot all the time. (many player will not even check the forum for guide, how would they even know the eyemeat/bind pot tips)
Zelgo fix the coi gank issue by adding so much CD time for people who got detected out, whoever got ganked can have reaction time to teleport or whatever.
The other way to fix coi gank is update the client to the new stats point/hp/mp system (the 45point as max stats). In the new update, everyone got so much hp/mp even not adding CON as base. This make coi gank much harder to kill, but it will affect very much of the pk now.
If new player quit because they dying. Then they probabbly will not stay long anyway.......The core of lineage late game is hunting big boss/pvp, and you will face death soon or later.

COI has only ever enabled degenerate things in PVP, whether it's ganking or COI healing. The goal should be to nerf its effectiveness in PVP while allowing it to continue to be an effective PVE tool.
What if COI removal/detection triggered a 2-3 second skill/spell CD? This would allow people time to venz before stun/erase/destroy, and if they still die to ganks, that seems like a legit kill. Just spitballing.

I am not sure why the COI thing keeps coming up when we've done literally what you're saying. We reduced the effectiveness of COI in PVP using a real NCSoft feature. We were able to add an anti-coi gank feature that was not custom, and actually part of the game... floating eye meat + blinding potion. This eliminates the effectiveness of COI in PVP almost entirely. Anyone can use floating eye meat + blinding potion, and it lasts for an entire 5 minutes.
That is already an easy mode feature.. what else do we really need?
The community is capable of letting new players know about floating eye meat + blinding potion combination. I see it all the time on global... someone gets COI Ganked.. they get told about the combination ... they try it.. they love it. It seems to work great. If a player is repeatedly getting COI ganked in places like GP and specifically choosing to NOT use blinding potion + floating eye meat, then to be honest.. its their own fault.
Lineage has always been about checks and balances.. a feature or tactic.. and a way to defend against it.. it's part of the game play.. if someone doesn't want to defend against it we shouldn't go remove the feature and tactic so their feelings dont get hurt, they are making the choice.

Mostly, I was responding to Vickytang. It seems there's still an epidemic of ganking, apparently. I don't personally care about it, especially when there is no K/D ratio in-game and xp loss is minimal.
