Help for a new confused Elf. Stats, magic and bows
I'm here to ask you for a little help with some questions. I have read the compendium of guides but there are things that are not clear to me.
1.- Which elven magic should I choose if I am starting with an 18 dex elf. Protection from earth magic, additional damage from wind, healing from water, all seem great to me.
Considering that I always hunt alone with my pet tiger and want to explore areas I never could in the old days of Lineage.2.- Why is the Thebes bow so popular if I think there are better ones like the Sayha bow? According to the database Sayha bow has 4/4 dmg, +4 dmg +2 hit bonus, clearly superior in damage. Thebes 3/3, +1 dmg, no hit bonus and +2 int, +1 wis (int and wis bonus!?? ).
Should I start again and change stats? I'm definitely missing something.
Thanks.

Re: Help for a new confused Elf. Stats, magic and bows
For dex elf if you want to not use potions go water, other wise wind is your best friend.
For best bow for end game you want a long bow of the moon.
The starting gear should be fine until you replace it with stuff from FI or farm enough adena to buy/make better.
Thebes bow is only good for elves with lots of Int due to its proc is based off int.
For elven stuff boosting dex is nice, you can buy quest items in oren.
You don't have to start again dex elves level very fast and on this server you can candle which lets you reallocate points that you get after 49 and incase you mess something up.
I hope this makes sense.

Re: Help for a new confused Elf. Stats, magic and bows
If you're committed to playing a dex elf through the leveling process, then you'll want a strong dex bow, such as moonbow, kxbow, or sayhas bow. Kxbow is totally sufficient and much cheaper than the others. End game dex bows are currently highly enchanted moonbow or, of course, fid bow.
However, it tends to be faster and easier to level as an int elf. As int, you can aoe mops down using fireball, and you can do excellent damage with your bow using a thebes bow. The extra dmg proc on thebes bow is int-based, so you will do more damage pve single target using thebes bow as int than using any of the dex bows as dex. By a huge margin. That is why thebes bows are popular.
As for element, go wind if dex, go water as int (while leveling). Water just isn't going to give you much as dex at low levels. As int, it'll mean you will never use a potion again pve.
At higher levels, earth makes sense for an int elf, offensively. Water continues to be a good choice. Earth is good because elemental falldown substantially increases your thebes bow proc damage, and earth gives you access to the best crowd control spell in the game, earth bind. Int elves can also cancel a lot easier than dex elves, which is crucial in pvp encounters.
Water begins to make sense as a dex elf at higher levels, because you can invest enough points in int to make nature's blessing worthwile, while also doing huge single-target bow damage. Wind is your best offensive option, but it's best utilized at very high levels with end-game gear
