Web Market
A web market is being considered for development. We would like to gather feedback on this feature.
A web market would allow you to buy and sell items on the website. An alternative to GTZ
It would work similar to an auction house you may have seen in other games.
Pros
-Easier to buy and sell items
-Don’t have to leave client open overnight
-Can trade when away from homeCons
-Selling in-game may become harder as less people may bother to go to gtz
-Easier access to items on the webmarket will reduce motivation to hunt for it in game yourselfNeutral
-Selling will become more competitive; prices will likely go down, and much harder to sell something for more than someone else
-Online player count will likely go down a bit, making the server seem less activePost feedback in this thread

Re: Web Market
I'm all for an online webmarket.
I do have a question/suggestion, how will it work if you hit adena cap (if there is such a thing on this server)?
Also a cap on amount of items you can put on the market?
-
Re: Web Market
Web market would definitely be cool, I wouldn't mind not needing to set up in GTZ anymore.
-
Re: Web Market
adena cap would have to be dealt with in testing. it may not affect the webmarket hopefully. just safeguards in place when withdrawing adena
details of the web market such as item caps etc would be worked out over time

Re: Web Market
i love the idea of webmarket , what im afraid of is previous experience with webmarket..... it was used as a way to dupe , it was used as a way to trade non-tradable items .... but overall , when it was working , it was amazing .... the good thing with webmarket (online there is no goldcap limits) , so trading a big item can happend on webmarket as long buyer is willing to accept all adenas . when it come to cashout from the webmarket , we now have '1bil' coins , so going over the goldcap would be ez to avoid , just pay in coin when over 1bil cashout. webmarket will smoother alot the 'economy' making it way more viable for new players ... beeing able to buy imm book on monday morning at 5 am est is kinda harder then it seem. ppl worried about undercuts over n over ? maybe limit the number of transaction a said person can do per day , etc there is tons of way to regulate the webmarket to favor all instead of the no-lifer.

Re: Web Market
long overdue actually. other private lineage servers have had this for a long time back.
charles did not have the time to modernize with things like this.
this would be an amazing addition to the server BeanBags, thank you! -
Re: Web Market
don't worry about duping. Charles already made some changes to the server for that. it's very secure.
non-tradable items are marked as such and it will be easy to exclude them
i'll be looking into things I can do to handle the gold cap both on the web market and in game
to limit auction posts I am thinking a deposit fee and listings will expire after a while, similar to WoW. those kinds of things will be tested and iterated on
-
Re: Web Market
Instead of a deposit fee or anything like that, just setting a raw # of items per account should work... choose what you do want to sell.... But also want to know what the point of GTZ is once this is up and running. Could look into setting it up as a "look to sell" with contacts allowed. A ton of our players do not use this website/forums which means it'll bring some life back. But I already remember losing 100% every item I ever had of value in zelgo from this so I'm just making sure before it's implemented we have safe guards and back ups on the reg and how to handle the "Oh I sold it/it's gone missing/I didn't get it" will need to be handled first. Poor you/Charles have enough to investigate from people deleting shit as is... this will double or triple that number of claims probably.
As someone who casually farms, I don't deal in coins... I've gotten eaten alive by Charles "Adena sinks" to the point I go crazy lol... I quit my royal because it's not even feasible to play one anymore with current economy. more sinks = more pushing of players to mage farming :(
EDIT: Royal example. And please for the love of everything BeanBags ignore people who say "don't hunt with fantasy" They aren't going for gold, a royal is a low dps, not amazing DR char... double fantasy is what makes it bearable without having to leave over and over. to restock.
Breakdown Per Hour:
23k In Devils Blood, 177k In pots (going cheap) otherwise x3, 1104k in Mushroom Soup, 759k in Eye steak. For a total of 2063k per hour of hunting.... If you change out mushroom soup for basi soup (Which I readily farmed and did the time to hunt all of it [check my storarge you'll see I have tons laying around I didn't get to finsih making]) It would be 2408k per hour just to hunt... meaning I need between 2-2.4m adena made to break even on a royal per hour... I will admit winter spear + Kuku shield is the only way you can even hunt as a royal anymore and make good progress... Fantasy x2 = 10 DR... A royal isn't a knight, isn't a mage... no heavy DR no immune, it doesn't have the clear speed of other classes... So ignore comments saying "don't use fantasy" they're coming from a place that has no part in the conversation lol.-Yoshi

Re: Web Market
Welcome aboard Sir, Bean Bags! Very good idea for a web market that's linked to our accounts. Like Pech mentioned, double-triple check the duping security because that's what happened on a couple past servers who had a web market for items. I'm highly in favor of this :) Keep up the great work Charles and Sir bean :D

Re: Web Market
i like the idea of posting fees , but plz , let us be able to post forver ... i give u an ez exemple ,lets say i have 1000 n-zel and i wanna sell them at 20k each , i do not wanna have to repost them in 12 or 24h cuz a smartass decided to camp the browser and post his 1 adena cheaper all day long . for the posting fees , it be nice they be refunded if the auction doesnot sell after x amount of time in ah . just consume the fees if auction is canceled withing the first 2 hours ? to avoid cancel/repost ... also , no items should be able to be sold under the npc vendor.
-
Re: Web Market
I don't think I will be limiting number of auctions. people can just get around it by making new accounts/characters.
The current plan is to do a fee so its not trivial to keep reposting constantly to undercut
I don't plan on refunding the fee if the auction fails, because part of the idea of the fee is to encourage posting at a price that will sell so it doesn't fail. and avoid people posting a lamp for 1 billion adena etc
I was planning on refunding the fee if the auction sold, but I think if an auction is going to fail to sell, people will just buy their own items on another character to get the fee back.
the fee will likely simply be paid and not get it back. its like an advertising fee, cost of doing business. it should be a decent adena sink to help combat inflation.
for your last point do you mean if a vendor will buy something for 10k you can't sell it on market for 5k?
-
Re: Web Market
for the last point , exactly . if he try , a window pop asking if he wanna vendor the items instead for x beeing whatever the value of the item .
cant wait to see whatever it be , i just rly hope for alot of items / post for alot of days

Re: Web Market
Regarding the decrease of "online" players due to people moving to use the web market, I think it will be fine if the daily trading stats are posted in the game server and on the web site, kinda like how stock markets report how much capital has moved in the day.
-
Re: Web Market
I didn't think the online market was up and running yet.
pretty sure the decrease is the try harders who got burnt out during battle plans, always a lot of players come back during battle plans to try to hit it big, then get burnt out or frustrated and leave again.normal load is about 120 for server pop, it jumps to about 200 during event (specially battle plans) then restablizes to 120 after event hype dies down.
