Yah, I was responding in general to the thread anyway. My point was there exists a mechanism to avoid getting COI Ganked which eliminates the effectiveness of COI in PVP. If players, even some seasoned vets I still see dying, are choosing not to use the feature.... there is not much I can do.

Problems: the blind potion + floating eyemeat combo is good up to certain points, it lasts only 5mins and your screen is black, all visible/invisibles have light circles around them, that hurts my eyes after playing for 30min straight....so many ppl just stopped using it.
Solutions: If possible, may be we could increase the timer and remove the darkness and make all visible/invisible with dark circles around them.....that may encourage more people to use them.
Once again, this is not a pve server, pvp is unavoidable and shouldn't be made avoidable!!! I died all the time from day 1 lvling at GP and other places, now i am lv75+ and i still died to coi gank, on a bad day, i die 2x or 3x within an hour to coi gank, i dont see any big deal, come on we big boys, i am sure we could deal with it!! I don't get why people argue that PVP will make people quit, trust me, if they can't handle pvp here and quit, they will do the same to every available server out there....is there any pve-only server out there?!?!
Griefers are gonna grief, haters are gonna hate, you could never please everyone....lol may be put up a pve only server, and everyone just hold hands and love each other, to be honest, thats the only solution, otherwise, this thread should be closed.....just my2cent and i am a PVE player!

Increase PVP point system to lv 72+ instead of level 60
people below lv 72 dont lose EXP on their death (PVP ONLY) o.o? just my input

this wont change anything, if there are lv75+ people running around killing low lvls now, they would continue to do the same regardless.
Like i said in my previous post, the only solution will be putting up a pve only server, but trust me, no one will go...

you're right, griefers will grief no matter what. but currently 95% of the RPKing is to fish for stupid pixel epeen points, not to actually grief

From an easy coding fix point of view:
- Guards already auto attack Chao players - make them hit hard 300+hp, 100% land, dmg per hit if lawful < X, add a lookup condition to the existing sub for guards hitting chao.
- Lower dmg per hit when Chao (check lawful, if < X then dmg=1 at the end of the dmg sub)
- Add the levels of each toon to the PK announcement, sit back and watch how fast ppl start calling out newb kills as pussy kills.

I'm new to the server (and private Lin1 servers in general), so take this with a grain of salt...
I do agree with OP. So many replies seem to say "PvP has always been part of the game [just deal with it]" but from my memory this is not at all true. There was always an option for players to pick a PvE server instead. Obviously, that's not possible here because so few people are left who still want to waste time on a 20-year old game.
Personally, I have no interest in PvP and don't participate. If someone attacks me, I just venz or try to get away from them. That can be annoying when it's a long run back to where you were hunting, but it's not a huge deal right now and I respect the right of players who want to PvP. But, I can see how this would get really old over time.
It seems like the approach to solve this needs to be two-pronged. Removing the incentive to rpk and create incentives for optional PvP where players actually want to participate.
Remove incentive to rpk:
- Remove point/kill system from unsanctioned PvP like OP suggested. (Replace with something from incentive section)
- Remove death penalty for unsanctioned PvP. Look, I know leveling here is easier than ever, but joining this server late I already feel way behind. Losing 5% exp may not take long to earn back, but it feels like wasted time, a resource most of us have significantly less of as adults. This also removes some of the griefing component as you're less likely to get a rise out of new players who die if they aren't losing their time and effort.
Create sanctioned world PvP and reward players for participating:
- Make rotating hunting zones a PvP hotspot (similar to rotating toi floors for the event). These zones could potentially have increased drop and/or exp rates to encourage players to take the risk
- Players entering these zones when active are automatically pink and death penalties apply
- Have a point system for participating in PvP during these times in these areas or sieges
- Make the point systems meaningful. Create a reward system (maybe like feather vendors but with kill points) where players who participate in this PvP can earn rewards. (Like bg/arena gear in wow)
This gives world PvP that's always on and meaningful but also gives players the option to participate or not. Wouldn't it be more meaningful to kill others who actually want to PvP instead of level 52 noobs who didn't see it coming?

I agree. I remember in live if someone attacked you they went pink and if you defended yourself you did not. This made it less easy for someone to be ganked and put the griefer in the position of being vulnerable. I have pretty much stopped playing as I can't stand to PVP and am tired of my options being 1) venz or 2) fight and die. Why do I say fight and die? Because I've only started here about 4 months ago. Obviously, I'm NOT going to be as well armored or weaponed as those who have been here way longer and like to PVP. I also like to try hunting harder places to challenge myself and hunt up items for weapon/armor creation. However, several higher level players basically call a room or boss or floor theirs and will pk anyone who dares venture there. I mean, they basically corner the market on upper end items for item creation. There is no chance I stand with my equipment to deal with them. Current set up is for the PVP person and since I cannot challenge myself with the GAME (not the people) then the game loses interest for me.

Make it less convenient for high-level players to PVP low-level players or at least for high-level players to access low-level/non-boss hunting areas:
- Temporarily disable NPC teleport services -warwithin one hour of going Chao;
- If the PVP continues (e.g. consecutive kills), intensify the disabling of private server convenient functions to the player (e.g. disable Melissa's TP scrolls).
If the high-level player can go on a killing streak, I think it is a sufficient indicator that he doesn't need the hand-holding functions of private server. He isn't barred from PVPing, he is just going back to vanilla Lineage pvp.

This is a PVP server.. Although I don't condone killing low levels without reason and even with reason not enough to be considered griefing... From what Ive seen in my time in this game.. Players who want to hunt in an area that you are in will push you out, its just how it is.. Get a couple decent areas to hunt in on your list and grind it out.. get stronger and fight back.
I do not really see RPK going on, most of the lowbies I see being harrassed and or killed are players using "low" characters to camp bosses. I don't think we need punishment functions for players attacking or killing others.
If you are legit being harassed by the "server" because 1 person cannot cover the entirity of ADEN to find and kill you in every area. Then contact Kern and state your concerns, but please only do this IF you are being hunted by a mass amount of people and you literally are being denied play time. If you can't hunt GP cause ppl are there and push you out and you keep going back to GP... then this does not qualify.If you are truely a new player and not a "new account" trying to get free stuff from people, then there are plenty of people on this server who will help you in many ways.

I know this game has PvP and PKing but when an event comes, high lvl players to control the area PK evryone else. Is this how the mechanics supposed to be? Even that is fine. But no penalty for PKing seems stupid to me. Just because its a PvP server doesnt mean there should be no PvE. evry1 has to PvE to do PvP. but I feel some PvPer started the server geared up and just for the fun ganking any low lvl players not giving them any chance to play. You want to support PvP fine. But dont you think you are ignoring PvE'ers... Its like you are saying dont come to my server if you wont pvp or come and keep dying. And I am not seeing any response from a GM. I am not expecting a favourable response. but a response? Are they even following this thread?
