RPK - GANKS - NEW PLAYER GRIEFS - Remove PVP PTs to FIX
AS ONE OF YOUR INFAMOUS RPKER/griefer from zelgo and here. One thing you all should know IS THAT I did it for the fun of simply killing players + pissing them off. However most of the time others do it is cause they want to increase their kill counts.
i had my share of killing way too many randoms and new players to the point they quit previous servers I’ve played on. There are not many servers left available for us in NA. If you all haven’t noticed BBQ has not rpkd for some time now. With what’s going with zelgo, this is literally the only server left. We stopped so we wouldn’t kill off new players coming in, like we did on zelgo (learning from mistake).
Anyways to the point.. my main reason to post this is to suggest removing in-game kill pts/KD. People still has access to their kills in linweb, privately.
There’s no need to have kill pts to be public etc at all, it’ll just cause more of an incentive to grief so one may increase their count. Leaving people who cares about their count too much to killing any and everyone, hoping they are point worthy.
It also affects pvp in someway regardless of being a private server where you literally lose nothing upon death, people care too much about it giving their enemies a PT etc. if anything it causes less pvp for those who don’t want their enemies pts to increase for trolling/bragging rights
Killing/dying is a part of lineage, but a pt system for it other than in siege for more pvp shouldn’t really be needed.
more people randomly killing random neutral pve players for pts = people quit. This was proven when I played zelgo o.o

I agree, make it private. Many players only rpk to increase their count, if you remove this count from showing publicly they wont pk new players or lower level players as much.

There should be a more impactful penealty for consistant Rpking.
The solution could be:
- Making it harder to unchao while you are full chao.
- A chance to Drop multiple Items while chao.
- Some sort of Bounty System (this could be hard to do.).
Preventive:
- If you detect someone in COI make them take 25% of their Health as DMG.
- A longer Delay on COI.
- You do less DMG while the delay of COI is active. -

Get rid of the points in /who. Everyone always makes the claim "THATS NOT HOW IT WAS ON LIVE!!!" for other issues... well /who showing kills isn't how it was on live from what I remember.

mamore - The update that is going live has anti-coi gank measures. You can use blinding potion + floating eye meat to keep track of COI players while hunting.

/who on NA live did not show kill counts
there wasn’t really necessarily a “kill count or pt system” on NA live. Only thing we really had was a pk count (/checkpk) and the count wasn’t necessarily per kill but was count of kills for when you aren’t full law while killing players
I definitely think having it as linweb is enough for a player to see who they had killed or died to etc. if that helps some players feel accomplished lol. having the KD showing on /who or anywhere public imo does nothing. You don’t benefit anything for having more kill pts etc it’s literally for “show off purposes” which means nothing when people are constantly doing it via ganking rpking etc.

nope.
bad idea.Lineage is a pvp game and what your proposing is to discourage pvp, by hiding peoples pvp stats.
this game is already pve for the most part.
also, people want to have bragging rights for their pvp stats. thats how gamers are.
we should be posting peoples pvp scores right up on the front page of the website. not hiding them.
put them up there !lets talk about the elephant in the room here.

the pvp/chaotic system is broken.
there is nothing that discourages someone from going red.
there is no system in place to make someone seriously consider going red on a random player.make a chao systm that works, and you solve the killing noobs problem.

there's already a global notification of kills for normal zone kills only - combat zone was already removed. that's already better than good old days on kills etc. where nothing was notified globally other than people trash talk _____ end on global and blogs - we have a update on home page on latest kill etc. maybe gms can just implement a list of who killed who rather than just showing the latest, but a page where it shows all per month per day etc.
you don't need a "pt system" to increase pvp. NA live did extremely well with PVP without having any what of a kill pt. only thing that mattered to people when dying was chao system (which i agree needs to be fixed, people hardly drop here). kill points here is literally useless - you gain no benefit from it. you can use linweb, and the kill page on the site to "brag" about killing someone lol as a data, you dont need a kill count for anything. if a pt system mattered so much then you might as well request for death / assist count lol.
often times on other servers people are more discouraged to pvp due to the fact there is a pt system. people literally dont fight cause they dont want to "give pts etc" when they die

FYI I have one of the highest kill count for elves, or players in general. It literally means nothing to me, I pvp for the fun of pvp. It still doesn’t change the fact a kill PT system is literally useless as fuck lol
a bounty system would be 1000x better. Gives players a reason to kill for rewards

Or make pts system siege/bp war only, even this pts system comes with real rewards.
to kill a enemy prince trying to take crown at siege is 1 point, to coi gank an unaware noob is 1 point too.
this does not add up.
that's why people tend to take easy approach to accumulate their points

people are cherry picking for points or avoiding confrontations to "give points" do you really think this is fostering an increase in pvp? its just fostering invis pk and lopsided fights

^they are implementing a point system for siege o.o it's literally talked about in the latest update they implemented on test for us to test out before live release.
yes, pt system in normal is pointless lol. and no it does not encourage more pvp. never did and never will lol.

pvp stats are an important part of successful game design.
don't take my word for it, just look at all modern successful game titles.
league of legends, wow, eve, world of tanks, dota.
they have pvp stats, and they have pvp ranking boards.we need a pvp stat page & pvp ranking board for this server too.
as an admin tasked to grow this server, why would they reinvent the wheel as screw things up?
we know what makes games successful, the lessons are there to see in the industry.pvp & pvp stats are what people want.
it's been proven over & over in successful modern game design.hide peoples stats?
why don't we do a poll on that then. i dare ya.
