FID Updates
Folks,
Last few days of testing to get the FID Updates Live. Last chance to do some testing, get your suggestion and feedback in based on your testing. Here are the current stats of the weapons:
Note: Stop testing on the dwarf... it's not accurate.. especially for Magic Damage from procs.
EDIT: PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THE GOAL IS TO KEEP UPDATING / INCREASING THE STRENGTH OF FIDS TO MAINTAIN THEIR #1 SPOT AS WE ADD CONTENT. THE GOAL IS TO NOT MAKE THEM TOO STRONG TO THE POINT THEY NEED A NERF. TWEAK THEM UP OVER TIME, NEVER DOWN.

Re: FID Updates
I haven't tested properly the damage of Gaia's Fury. And I am on an undefined hiatus of Lineage I.
Though, from pure theorycrafting:
Moonbow is +4dmg base? Let's argue you can have a +9.
If you are a wind DEX elf, add +6 from Stormshot.
Level 75+
+7 damage.
DEX around 38.
+10.
Total: +36 damage bonus raw. Moonbow has a 10% chance of double damage. Meaning you will hit for around 80-90s 10% of the time.
With FID bow you will hit similar. Only it will be water based(?) thus reduced by WR. Physical Damage is only reduced by general DR. Which also appliest to Elemental/Magic damage.
Anyway, my plea is to make Gaia's a viable weapon for INT elves... Because end game... They just suck compared to DEX elves. How? make proc damage based on SP similar to thebes. Then it will make it viable to INT elves.
My argumentation is that as it is, FID bow doesn't improve that much for DEX elves, and certainly not much for INT elves.
Anyway, happy you put new content and new events. Even if I quit before playing them. Good job!

Re: FID Updates
The bow currently is meant for DEX.
After an hour or so of comparing a 7moonbow vs 2fid bow 10 triples on my dex elf build, I’m doing around the same dmg after 10 triples. I feel like the moonbow just procs WAYYY more. For something that is easily craftible vs a fid, the comparison is a bit too similar imo but when fid procs does happen I’m doing 100+ more after 10 triples
moonbow average 860-880 after 10 triples
fidbow average 900-1k after 10 triples
I like it o.o
INT elves right now... has Thebes bow for high proc damage, and Thebes procs are ridiculous depending on how you make use of them o.o

Re: FID Updates
After testing every fid against a similarly tiered,(easier to obtain) counterpart; I believe that the Crystalized Staff needs to be one handed in order to truly make the jump from demon staff to Fid worth it over say, crafting a knight fid simply because a knight fid would result in much bigger playmakers on your side. Additionally, I feel that the dark elf fid proc, which is a hold similar to thundergrab, or impartial arbalest’s proc effect, however at a time similar to thundergrab—it varies 1-3 second hold, rather than the 8 second flat hold that impartial arbalest garuntees. Other than these minor changes I feel that these fid iterations are spot on for where the server is at and still have changed to come as we push on through the episodes in our server’s 10 year journey! :)

Re: FID Updates
Fid staff does not need to be 1-handed, stick with how it is on live. Zelgo went 1h cause ppl complained about the sp Smitty originally wanted to do (he wanted to do 10sp), so he reduced it and made it 1h... super unbalanced the moment it was in... I know, I have one on zelgo ??
If you have the chance to make a Fid staff you probably have enough for dstaff or have one already, you can swap items around based on situation like how you should for this game...
you are already gaining 2 sp more and an int extra over dstaff and mana ball. Plus the ability to swing st mops etc with 40 dmg proc + 40 dmg extra magic dmg, not to mention the MPR
magic dmg here on this server is already hitting harder than it was on zelgo, a base 5 lichrobe dstaff mage with 6acc hits harder than my mage on zelgo with 47+ sp

Re: FID Updates
Fid Staff = +7 SP, +2 INT -> No Int Book -> also does a proc for extra damage
Demon Staff +5 SP, +1INT with int bookit does not need to be 1 handed to amke the jump worth it, it has an additional +3 modifier to all spell damage over a demon staff

Re: FID Updates
Ah, my bad when I was testing I forgot about it’s proc and only tested spell damage, the proc most definitely makes it worth it, my apologies!

Re: FID Updates
No apologies man! This is what this forum is for, discussions! It was a discussion, response and if warranted, more repsonses. Don't apologize for doing exactly what I wanted!

Re: FID Updates
I guess this isn't specific around the Fid update for Illu per se, but right now it's kind of weird to compare the Obs Kiri which is clearly significantly worse than the Fid one, to the Fid one, when the Obs Kiri is like one of the worst Kiris available on live. It's almost like comparing a two-handed sword to the fid sword and asking what is better.
I suspect the Dragon Knights have a similar problem
What is it going to be like if/when some of the other weapons get added? Is it still going to feel really strong? or is the damage going to feel like a marginal at best increase?
Right now when I tested a +10 cyclone obs kiri vs a +2 cyclone fid kiri, it seemed like I did somewhere around 20 damage more per swing with the fid on a variety of monsters that had low MR, which felt reasonably good, and I had what felt like a 50 damage proc every 10-20 swings, which also felt nice. Obviously, the damage difference was less when facing monsters with higher MR. The proc felt about the same damage, but the actual hits fell to be closer to 10 damage on average. Now, that's a big jump, but I wonder how big that jump would be compared to some of these items especially because that fid is a touch stronger than the one we're testing:
http://gametsg.techbang.com/lineage/index.php?view=item&k1=normal&k2=weapon1&k3=kiringku#detail
Then again, for all I know, those are special items we'll never get.
This is especially interesting when considering a lot of those weapons appear to have procs, and it will definitely be a factor of how often we get a proc vs the normal damage as to whether the fid is considered worth the considerable effort to get. The one thing, however, that the fid has going for it is the high roll damage.
Anyway, I'm guessing that while it might not be the optimal path, perhaps we take a time out on the fid update until some of these other items are added?

Re: FID Updates
flaiyer,
Excellent post. Thank you for that.
Let me clear this up for you, the fid items that exist as they exist on live are significantly stronger. This creates more variance with the additional tiers. We are not there yet, because a lot of items added in resistances, hp, and even a con/hp rework. However, the 'fids' are the end game weapons and this holds true when comparing them to the other tiers.
Since we can't add in the fid weapons at their current strength.. our plan is to add them in now as the best available end-game strength weapon based on the amount of work to get them.
The plan! We will be incrementing the fid weapons as we add content! We will be continously updating the fid weapons to make them stronger and match our current progress on content. They will remain the best weapons in game for a long time. As we add in content, the newer tier items will get added and the fids scaled appropriately to match where we are.
We are just trying to get the fids launched to give every class their end game equivalent... right now we have 1 viable end game weapon with everyone else using sub-tier weapons because of where we are in the point of time of ncsoft releases... in some cases like DK and Illu.. with next to no choices.
Does that make sense?

Re: FID Updates
Charles,
It makes sense to me, yes. I sort of assumed you would be buffing the fids as new tiers of weapons came into being. And I also understand the difficulty when comparing to live because of all the additional things they have to mitigate damage, etc, etc.
I guess, I am just kind of talking about it from a content perspective in a way, though I suppose that doesn't matter much. Like, when you add some of those kiris, it is immediately going to be better than the Obs kiri. Not the fid, per se, but definitely the obs. Like 3 people are gonna have the fid and they will need to get a buff to keep them doing an X% damage boost over whatever the new thing does, which will also need to be balanced against everything else. Unless the new kiri is so rare that virtually no one has one. Then it's irrelevant.
That's the reason I would suggest, perhaps, adding some of these new tier weapons first and letting the game resolve around that, at least for DK and Illu because virtually anything will be better, and you sort of spin into a balance spiral with each new tier against both the existing game and the fid needing to be better. Like, you basically need to retest the fids every tier to deal with that.
It also absolves those who have the fid ever having to worry about a neat new weapon. (be that good or bad)
That said, I get the reason to want to just make the end game weapon now, so go for it.
