LINEAGE ARENA - A WAY TO PVP and make all happy
After reading all pages of the post about the pvp-coi ganks, I’ve got a idea to solve that problem, that could be very funny and great if it’s possible to implement in game and is balanced and can help to get new players and funny to high level players. I’m not a coder and I don’t even have the idea if it’s possible to implement this in the game, so I put my idea and I hope all can discuss and put his opinions to “construct” the next suggestion, and I hope than Charles, Morty or other players that are coders, can somehow help to implement this in game after the community discuss here and helps to perfect the idea.
The LINEAGE ARENA
The idea is create a “mini” coliseum, where people can fight in 1 vs 1, 3 vs 3 and 5 vs 5. It creates a ranking and in the end of month some of the top players get a really good price. (tipical bag in lineage once u open u can get one item in a random between some high level items).
- Pros: If people wants to pvp will go to coliseum, cause they can get a reward, they lose motivation to do fights around all Aden cause if they want pvp they have the coliseum opened to clash one time after time.
- Pros: Once you get high level you have a reason to still play.
- Pros: Can Bring new players.
- Pros: Can help to make changes to balance classes, if we see one month that inside top 100 fighters there is like 70 elves, that wants to say elves need nerf or other classes need power up.
- Pros: You get a reason to level and get ubergear.
- Pros: Can help to get in market some topitems.
- Cons: It wasn’t in the original game, so obviously it’s a new content that not respect the original.
- Cons: A lot of job for Gm’s.
- Cons: At least in first seasons (one month is a season) will need a lot of controlrebalance and probably it will bring abuse problems.
How to do:
Development of game:
- You speak with a NPC that put you in a list, and after finding another player looking for a match (that obviously is searching too for a match) teleport both to the Arena. (This is obviously for 1vs1 but can be the same for 3vs3). (It could allow to play around while is searching an opponent?)
- Once you enter in arena you get teleported to a Stage (see more notes about stage under) and the match start.
- When you get teled to Round 1 arena you are out of buffs and equipment and full of hp and mana, and you have a time of 15 seconds to get ready. At the end of the count of 15 fight starts.
- The fight should be to the best of 3 rounds. Each player win a point for each death/defeat of the enemy during a count time of 60s-90s. If you win the 3 rounds you get 1 extra point. (Rage quit=Auto win the 4 points). Each defeat makes you lose 1 point and if you lose the 3 rounds you lose 4 points . (Rage Quit loses 10 points). How to defeat:
- Killing the enemy inside the time.
- If no kills win the players that output the more damage at the end of time.
- If damage is the same at the end of round a dice decides.
- At the end of the “1st round” you get teleported to the second round stage, people is alive again and in same conditions, no buffs, no equipment, and they need equip again.
- They fight again end the “2nd round” and they tele to Final Round Stage, where they fight until the end and get teled out.
- At the end of the match the server counts your points positive or negative and moves you in the ranking.
IMPORTANT your inventory is the same for the full match so you need be carefully and don’t waste all potions/scrolls/wetstones/etc in the first round, this add strategy cause you can be out of resources for the other 2 rounds.
Stage:
Needs be something similar to coliseum, people enters in a place where the enemy (other player) spawns too and after a count the battle starts.
1st problem: Range – Obviously needs to be big but not so much cause the long range classes can win without even been touched.
How to solve: Put some stages with different maps where you can find positions to hide (Pillars/Walls), one stage with 0 pillars, another with some, and another with a lot of Pillars. Remember in Lineage, you can miss shots and magic if the enemy is behind a Pillar/wall.
Stage 1/1st round: No Pillars
Stage 2/2nd round: 1 Pillar in center.
Stage 3/3rd Round: 1 Pillar in center 2 Pillars Around and one wall.
2nd Problem: Stay hide all match behind some weird position.
How to solve: Add a punishment if you stay more than 10 seconds in the same spot without hitting the enemy.
Ranking:
As I said previously you need a strong Ranking system to avoid exploits.
My idea is:
1 point x wined round.
1 extra point if you make a 3-0 in the match
1 negative point x lost round
1 extra negative point if you make a 0-3 in the match
10 negative points x rage quit
(Admin can punish more if anyone step outside the line)
At the end of the month the ranking resets and new season starts.
Biggest problem and my idea:
The biggest problem is people can abuse of too much play to get first in rankings at the end of month or can look for vs against noob players that they control and don’t fight back.
How you solve:
1st- You need be lvl 60 or more to play in Arena.
2nd- If you get a negative of -45 points you cannot play more this month
What we win with that: we will not have players unleveled that can enter to just loose matches.
3rd- You have a max of day battles, you can fight a max of 10 battles x day, this and the negative points for the loosed matches prevents to have people with infinite points cause they play 24/7 in day 15 of the month.
(This can be changed if we really see the 10 battles are really fast.)
Or if we see that is not important the number of matches you play. Because you can have best ranking playing less:
Example: 10 matches winning 8 perfects 2 loses perfect=32 positive points minus 8 negative= 24 total points
Vs. a player that plays 30 matches: win 18 perfects lost 12 = 72 positive points minus 48 negative points = 24 total Points
I’m not pretty sure cause players that plays like crazy can go up very fast in ranking and make a big gap:
Vs. a player that plays 40: win 24 perfect lost 16 perfect = 96 positive points minus 64 negative = 32 total points
As you see with a worst % of winning he can get more points, this is why I think that needs be caped a max of day/week matches.
Prices:
Add a big price for the 3 top players of the month a bag where they can get a big price, specially for the 1st one where he can find something awesome cb/destroy/fidelitys, etc…
2nd: Rare armors/Weapons: Magical Armors, Lich robe, etc…
3rd: Something that makes worth the full month of work but not crack the market.
That’s my idea. I don’t know if it’s possible to implements somethink like that in game, similar to gludio games, but that will make pvp/non pvp players happy and they will have a reason to still playing, and probably don’t lose their time doing randoms-pk.
And with that system we can remove PK count.

Really dislike this kind of arena / instanced based gameplay on Lineage. If I wanted to play arena based combat I'd play any of other hundreds games in which it is the main focus. This implementation would also spread the GMs very thin just based on the amount of complaints/policing they would have to do from people complaining about free wins or abusing / griefing etc.
You're also heavily pigeon holing people into playing classes specifically for arena if the rewards are too good. Why would you waste time entering on a class whos main purpose is larger scale fights and not small skirmishes? If you choose to balance around that you create a large disparity in outside of arena balance as well.
The headache alone from global chat / pms / complaints to the GMs in regards to "feeders" and wintraders would be astronomical and not even handleable by them.

I noticed COI also gutted... Or at least for me. Can't do actions when detected. Still see people going insta invis after detected... Weird.
Like someone already commented. Adding an Arena - Reward system would just favour those exploiting and win-trading.
More sieges is an option. By the way, I haven't assisted to any of those in 2 months. Not worth to stay awake at 3AM and being outnumbered by peeps with more gear.
Can we have data - stats feedback on sieges?? Has increased the amount of participation?
