Soft cap
There is currently a major level gap in mages vs other classes.
This is making for an almost impossible playing field as mages have clearly used/abused server issues.
Early on in the server we had many gp timer issues benefiting mages specifically in a huge way.
Here we are getting close to one month live and people are already almost 3 levels above the cap... If this is going to be a long term server it makes zero sense to have people close to hitting level 75.
Hitting level 75 likely should have been about a 6 month endeavor, for longevity sake.

Re: Soft cap
Do you have any suggestions, or are you simply here to gripe?
Nothing has been exploited in order for mages to level faster, and the GP timer restarts didn't occur enough for the gap to have been created simply by that. While I get that the restarts of that timer weren't ideal, everyone can hunt in GP at any time, but mages will always have the leg up in levelling.
The gap is because levelling as a mage is easier (grouping) and mages are ridiculously cheap to get up and operational. One way to partially address this is to make monsters re-spawn on screen, like they do on live. That would keep the pressure on mages to not sit around and regen, but instead mana drain things more, but ultimately mages are just easier to level no matter what (due to I2H, mana drain, meteor/FS). They, however, are limited in end game PvP scenarios once everyone else has caught up and is rocking massive MR and so on.
Make a suggestion or two and I'm sure the GMs will take it into consideration. Otherwise it's just noise and I'd suggest you focus on using your chosen classes advantages to your benefit or bring up a mage counter to combat these players. And don't worry about the longevity of the server - there will always be people at end-game and always people just starting out. The soft cap is meant to give other (willing) players a bit of extra time to catch up to the heavy grinders - it is doing its job. -
Re: Soft cap
The levels will get much harder for them each time while others catch up to soft cap and just over it - doing the exact thing the soft cap was meant to.

If you weren't blind you would notice mages are about to be 3 levels above the cap.
This is not logical on a server less than a month old if longevity is the goal. Maybe you're just here to mope, gripe and attempt to insult others.
For anyone with real time under their belt they know 3 levels above the cap is an issue less than a month into going live.

Re: Soft cap
Thanks for the heated reply, but I've been around the private server scene for a good long time, and the real servers a long time before that. Rest assured that my eyes are very much so open. Westknights and zelgo had similar progressions and lived for a long time, and were only ultimately killed off by hackers.
Instead of thrashing about trying to get your way (all of your posts are regarding the GP timer issue which was an issue for about 2-3 days total, once again not enough to create a true gap), just play the game. If there is a major concern regarding balancing or a level gap, it will be addressed. The people you're concerned about literally play 18 hours a day (I don't really condone this for health reasons, but whatever floats their boat).
When you start doing that and don't see the same progress, let us know and we can get some more experienced players to assist you.
In the meantime, enjoy your time in game. -
Re: Soft cap
mages will always level the fastest, elves coming in second. Early game most people play mage first until the fan properly gear another class. What your failing to realize is not all mages are above the cap, and we don’t know that everyone above cap is a mage. Also, it’s not like a mage is onjtbhutning GP time and is easily getting above the cap. I’m assuming those guys are investing a ton of non gp time to reach where they are at.

Re: Soft cap
Hawk, thanks for chiming in! We couldnt agree more on this, infact we are at 1.5x at level 72! Drops down by 1/2 every level thereafter.

Re: Soft cap
Hi Blue, Just wanted to say both you're right and the others are right... Mages are ahead but it cant be stopped.
Yes GP allowed the 18 hour player mages to get ahead faster. But trust me when I say it's not as large of a gap as you think. There's 70+ melee already and the mages can kill 100 times the monsters they can.
As an Idea I am not a grinder by any means I play 1-2 hours a night normally and I pulled off level 52 in 4 hours by just being diligent and I have not once been in GP. These people using their 3 hours of GP time then going out and power leveling in hard EXP areas are going to be 80 in 6 months if they don't stop. There's no way the GM's can stop that with the hours these people put in without just forcing the exp to .00000001 per mob.... On average I kill between 2 and 3k mobs a day farming for my bp random stuff. Orc wizards, ogres, DV skele for BCOMR. and i pull a level every other day in 1-2 hours a day just mass genociding these monsters. These people are in TOI 51-91f and Lasta... They're making 15x my EXP for 18 hours you cant expect them not to be 75+ even if the soft cap was 68.
So I see your point... But I am with everyone else, the EXP feels good and eventually we'll all be there. Work on your MR gear and you'll be 65 beating an 80 mage.-Yoshi

Simple solution
I always thought GP was meant as a way to give the other classes a way to keep up with mages as mages would already level super fast in places like BR, other parts of lasta, polluted orc area etc... First of all the mobs in GP shouldn't have any mana. This prevents mages from using mana drain on the mobs and continously hunting without having to regen. If you notice this update was already applied to BR. When you try to mana drain there you receive no mp. Seconldy I would Increase the elemental resistance drastically on these mobs which would greatly reduce the damage dealt with firestorm/meteor and other AOE spells. This would leave mages with only the option of using turn undead in GP which would be a more balanced way for them to level up. They will still have the advantage in all other areas of hunting.

Re: Soft cap
Actually Giran Prison was designed for all classes in mind. Third Floor was meant for mages to TU. First floor for Knights and Dragon Knights. Second Floor for Dark Elves, Elves and Illusionists. Forth floor for anyone with high MR and able to AoE or boss.
With three hours in GP, the Einhasad Blessing and the 15% bonus exp players are supposed to get from level 49 to 64, that entire update was about getting low level players up to speed with the rest of the community. In my opinion, Giran Prison should be off limits to level 65+. Unfortunately to enable that now, would cause an artificial gap in the current player base and ultimately lead to a few people quiting the server or worse, buying items.Developer: Lineage: TL, Programmer: All Lineage P-Servers, Creator: English Patch

Yea, thats a private server issue. It's not like that on live.
