Lineage on an M1 Mac
Hi. I am trying to run Lineage on an M1 Mac. Virtualbox, Parallels and VMWare are no go as far as I can tell. Wine and Crossover (a Mac version of Wine) are the only alternatives. I can get Lineage to start up with Crossover but when I click on the box to join the Justive Live server I get this error message,
Cannot open oreans.vxd driver. Make sure that oreans.vxd is not open by another program
I have searched Google and the info I have found suggests that this is because of gameguard or some other protection. I have disabled sip and the clamxav software used by Crossover. I had to install Wine Mono (which I think is what makes the networking part of things work) to get Lineage to start up.
The only other option I've read about is running ARM Windows in Qemu but the intel translator is not supposed to be very good.
Is there a way to get a non-game guard version of Lineage to run? Or would a version of jLauncher.exe that isn't game guarded work? Any suggestions are appreciated. In talking to the people at Crossover they said it will be another year before they fix the problem. I'm running OS 11.1 and Crossover 20.0.2. The latest of both.

Re: Lineage on an M1 Mac
I'm in the same boat trying to figure out how to make Lineage work on an M1 iMac.
Did you ever get it to work? The closest I got was CrossOver which launches up to the character selection screen but the screen is all messed up (50% black horizontally, colors are inverted, and mouse tracking is way off).
I was going to try VirtualBox next but it sounds like you had issues there.

Re: Lineage on an M1 Mac
Hi,
No luck yet but I've since gone back to Parallels 19 on Sonoma with ARM Windows 11 and get SetMode Failed err 80004001 when I click Justice Server after launching jLauncher and clicking Play. If I do windowed mode for the game I get inverted colors and Lineage only showing up in half a window.
This has been mentioned on the Discord server and the fix was to go to Properties for jLauncher -> Compatibility -> check a few things and then check a few more under the button about DPI Scaling. I've tried these suggestions and many possible alternative combinations without success.
If anyone gets this to work on an ARM Mac let me know! Thanks.

Re: Lineage on an M1 Mac
Well with the great help of the Parallels support group and a little tinkering of my own, we have figured out how to run Lineage 1 from Justice server in windowed and full screen modes. The steps are, leave all Parallels control settings as default, install Windows 11 ARM, download the Lineage zip file from the Justice server. It will save the file to the shared Mac folder in Windows 11. Unzip it in this same location. (You will have to add the folders and files involved in this to Exclusions for microsoft anti-virus). Go to the Login.exe file, right-click and select Properties. Select the Compatibility tab, click the button for adjusting DPI scaling, and then check the bottom box for adjusting DPI scaling and select Application from the drop down menu. You will need to run jLauncher.exe the first time you run Lineage, but only to select whether you want it to run in windowed mode or full screen. This can be set by clicking the Reset button and selectingn your choice. After this click the x to close the window (do not run it from here). Go to the Login.exe file and launch the game from there. That's it! Thanks again to the great help from the Parallels support team.
