The thing is we have 1 dark elf that has over 200 kills in a month, so everyone is scared by darkelf in discord. Everyone is yelling Darkelf is OP.
But in reality, see how many DE is in active in the server? and how many DE you see in PVP?
The below is 2 major issuess i see for DE now:
- The crit damage (uppper end) damage from DE is good, but the lower end is VERY low. You could see damage under 30 if you don't have very high STR. What class does that kind of low damage (except royal)? Even Knight 16STR swinging +7ori doing more than that with higher speed.
- Also, the stone requirement on spell and their duration make DE not as good in PVE. I do not know any DE use double break and shadow fang PVE unless he is the top level or bossing.
Now let's compare DE with other class:
Knight - Stun /Fid/CB
Mage - CoC + Destory
Elf - striker gale / Wind Shackle / polluted Water +triple
DK - triple swing + bind
Illu - somehow swinging over 70+ damage per swing with basic Kiringku and ignoring target MR/DR + stun
DE - IF you landed AB for 8sec, your target just going to walk around for 8sec then back to fight u, or if they are elf/mage they will still attack you with range. let's say your target is stupid, they stand there. you are only going to see a damage ~400 once in a blue moon or maybe once in your life time.

We already know why there are few people playing classes like DE and Illusionist. We've already talked about this, and unless it some how changed in KR balance it will never change in the future of our server unless we go full blown customization.
If you're too lazy to read the thread (then GTFO) here is my post from first page that explains why it is like this.
"in my opinion every class is secondary after Elf, Mage, and Knight. The rest of the classes are just luxuries on top of what is required to kill players. If you just want to do damage then play DK because they are ridiculous on this server even with +7 chain sword. DE is good damage output with the support ability of increasing damage of other melees via armor break. People can die through immune with armor break.
Same story with Illusionist being high damage output and good support. There are few players maining Illusionist but that number alone doesn't tell the story of their strength in this server. They are still a luxury class to me, which is why you see more people playing Elf, Mage, and Knight."

What killed people was not the AB, was the CoI gank and the Stun. 95% of the kills would have been kills without the AB.
8 seconds for a spell that lands, maybe, 50% of the time while the other toon is heavy hitting you, is short. Extending it will make it playable in PvP.
I've seen many characters under the effect of AB that not only do not venz 1vs1 against DE, but make the DE venz.

Fid knight probably won't kill most other knights in 1 stun, so by your standard knight should be buffed because it doesn't kill somebody else with 1 stun? That is the logic you are applying to armor break while taking it out of the context of group play where it is OP as fuck.

If you want to play a left clicker but be usefull just make an Illu. DE probably wont get buffed and arent worth the time needed to make a decent one.

I have more input about Dark elves.
I think there are currently 3 players playing the class. Two of them I know well.
PVE:
- Buff timer of Double break to 1200s
-PVP:
- Reduce mp/darkstone cost of Armor Break. 20 mp/1 ds.
- Increse time to 32s (at least). Why? Because when you cast, you don't move. 8s to catch up again? A joke.
- Make it non-block from CM. Isnt it a skill? or make knight stun blockable by CM. This is my favourite.
Then, about the DE with 200 kills. What killed people was Smitty/Elf stun.

Sorry for Necro-ing this post but could we bring back the discussion about having the buff durations extended (Double break, shadowfang) and lower-end damage rolls hightened?
I'm quite new to the server (been a member since a year back but haven't really played) and don't know if some of the things discussed in this topic has been fixed, but the durations and resource costs are still the same. -

I was wondering if there has been any thoughts to updating the DE? I know that for PVP increased time on AB seems like it would be obsured but what about the same time frame as Strikers Gale for elfs who get to cast this spell at range and dont have to be one cell away? For most pvp situations you will always have a mage so it seems like I2H would just balance out the AB on targeted melee. How about the idea of having all DE buffs increased in time duration? It seems like any fight that you get into PVE or PVP you have to re self buff shortly into the fight. Ronde Eydo is a great solution to the AoE factor of a DE but is incredibly rare for one to get. Is their any opposition to letting a DE use Wind Axe or Spear? I would suggest this as they are both craftable and still require some time to make, but this gives DE the oppertunity to have an AoE weapon with in their level up time. I do think the increase on the min roll dmg for DE needs to be addressed. I would suggest a 20 increase on the low end to keep DEs dmg consistant. I would love to hear peoples thoughts or ideas or suggestions for this class. I know from the last post to now there has been more people trying the DE and just would to hear more inputs

I don't think there is an easy way to upscale the minimal damage for a DE. DE is designed for RNG crit kills. No other class can melee swing for 250+ without spells. I can 3 shot GP mobs as a DE, only an illu can closely kill as fast without spells.
Also everyone keeps talking about the buffs and other stuff, but that's a right of the class, a DE can make a 10 Kedo by level 65, don't say they cant, I've done it for an ALT let alone a main DE player determined to be good. Knights cant sleep you from 3 cells away. The DE was designed as a kill assist char. If you get AB and a knight rolls a good stun right after, few teams can keep that player alive.
And Fid/CB knights only come 1 of 3 ways, luck is your best friend, you paid good money for it, or you grinded your ball sacks off... I've been there to build a fid, it's not easy, i've been there for CB drop it's not easy. A CB Fid knight is amazing, and amazingly hard to get without RNG or RMT.TL:DR. A de can get 100% geared besides fid and deal 250+ damage crits by 2nd month if they wanted. fully leveled and deleveled by month 4, the knight wouldn't even have finished his fid or CB by then without aformentioned ways. You're comparing a end game knight designed to counter melee's vs a Melee DE it's meant to counter.
Ask knights what fid bow elves do to their HP with striker gale and triple shot. They cant tank it. Should we buff knights also?-Yoshi

I think it's great that Ronde Edo has AoE, that certainly helps with leveling, provided you can get one. Imo it shouldn't cost any more than a wind axe/winter spear, but the issue is that it only drops from DK.
Solution: add it to Pierces gift bags from gambling wise stones at like a 0.5-1% rate. This will make it so newer players like myself who don't have 100+m Adena to blow on a weapon, nor are capable of competing for kills on DK, actually able to get one. This should help to make these actually available to the general population and not cost more than a 9Kedo.
While I'm at it, I am a big fan of making Bring stones the reagents for our spells, simply because losing 25% of my stones is annoying, and the time commitment for turning stones is also annoying.
Another thing I wanted to point out, is the existence of "-buff" invalidates Dress Mighty and Dress Dex completely, I think it would be cool if these were better (+6 to stat) or stacked with the other buffs. Also is there any way to make it so Shadow Armor is not overwritten by Shield when using -buff?
