New Launcher to test
Hi guys,
First I want to say thanks for Charles for letting me post this here.
I have a new launcher for the 3.63 client I was hoping users here would be willing to test out. This one is different from my old one in the sense that this is just a wrapper on top of the existing Login.exe.
It adds the following:
1. Darkness toggle
2. Mob colours toggle
3. Underwater toggle
4. Ability to set the game resolution and windowed/fullscreen from the launcher, instead of launching the gameNote that this launcher does not currently have update capabilities from L1 Justice, so if any updates are done to the server you will need to run the jLauncher to get the latest files.
To run it, simply extract the files from one of the following urls into your Lineage Justice folder and run Launcher.exe. It should prompt you for your settings and you're good to go.
Download Option 1: https://mega.nz/file/n91xiAiI#Gmaz5Brh1fIL_oHNtwcz813PIqDB5wBgjAPT4aS5J48
Download Option 2: https://anonfiles.com/R8D1MfF4oa/Launcher_zipAs always, source can be found here: https://github.com/l1j-en/launcher/tree/363
Let me know if you have any issues!

Re: New Launcher to test
This is approved and is safe. More to come.
Shout out to Smitty for his help in creating the wrapper and adding in the new settings.
The faster this gets tested, the more work that can be done on it.

Re: New Launcher to test
Just turned on MOB Colors, there is a delay at first login 1-2 seconds then the MOB title colors show up and so far the shiort test worked
will try more and see how it reacts

Re: New Launcher to test
Launcher has been updated to 5.0.1 to fix an issue where it was only injecting into the first process it found. It would never inject the changes into the 2nd client you opened.
It should be working properly now.

Re: New Launcher to test
New Launcher's setting only good working on the first login acc, for the second and more, the effects are not working. Whether reopen or not are not working on second.
-
Re: New Launcher to test
That is what my latest release fixed. If you're running version 5.0.1, it should inject into both.

Re: New Launcher to test
Would you be able to make the launcher able to select the test server as well, or is that something I can manually configure on my end?

Re: New Launcher to test
Added the test server to the config. Re-download the zip and copy the new l1jLauncher.cfg to your Lineage Justice folder.

Re: New Launcher to test
I know I'm in the minority, but I play the game using Wine on Ubuntu Linux (currently 18.04 Bionic Beaver).
Just reporting that this launcher doesn't quite work correctly on Wine stable 5.0, but I don't really expect these problems to get fixed:
1. It can't ping the servers, they always show as offline;
2. When I click "PLAY!", it opens the old server selection dialog (the skinned one that the old jlauncher.exe would launch);
3. The darkness/mop colour/underwater-effect options have no effect: there is no darkness, no mop colours, no underwater effect regardless of whether I check or uncheck the checkboxes;
4. The launcher hangs as soon as it launches the first game instance and I have to force quit it to close it.
I really don't miss darkness or underwater effect; and I don't really *need* mop colours; so for now, I just hope the old launcher to continue to be supported even if this new one becomes the new default.

Re: New Launcher to test
Have you tried it with version 4.0? I solely use Linux and wine to play (except when developing) and the entire launcher works as expected.

Re: New Launcher to test
I just tried wine-stable-i386 4.0.3~bionic. Still no go.
After clicking "PLAY!", I get the old, skinned server picker. At this point Launcher.exe seems to hang. But if I wait a bit, it eventually tells me it has failed to apply the settings to the game client.

Re: New Launcher to test
I messaged you on discord, but just in case you didn't get the message: I just did a fresh wineprefix on 4.0.3 with the following and it worked.
-
Create a directory for the wine prefix
-
Create a new wineprefix -- WINEPREFIX="<your wineprefix dir>" winecfg
-
Set Windows version to XP (not sure if needed)
-
Add the following libraries
-
mscoree
-
fusion
-
msxml3
-
-
Emulate a virtual desktop (I use 1205 x 925 to run the game in windowed mode of 1200x900)
-
Install .net 4.0 via winetricks (this will take a bit... 5-10 minutes on my machine)
-
WINEPREFIX="<your wineprefix dir>" winetricks dotnet40
-
-
Install allfonts via winetricks
-
WINEPREFIX="<your wineprefix dir>" winetricks allfonts
-
-
Install xephyr
-
sudo apt install xserver-xephyr
-
-
Run the application in 16 bit windowed mode in Xephyr
-
Xephyr :1 -ac -screen 1205x925x16 -glamor -reset -terminate &2> /dev/null && sleep 1 && DISPLAY=:1 xterm -e "WINEPREFIX=\"<your wineprefix dir>\" wine \"<path to launcher.exe>\"" &
-
Let me know if that works for you!

Re: New Launcher to test
does not allow me to launch a 2nd client off the bat, i have to click play a ton of time for it to finally load.
-
Re: New Launcher to test
Hmm. Can you run 1 client, then click play only once, and wait 60 seconds to see if it runs? I'm curious if it is failing to start Login.exe or if it is just taking a really long time.

Re: New Launcher to test
Just an observation: with mob color enabled in this new launcher, I see mob color even on Dream Island. I don't think we're supposed to see that on live. I guess the server is sending actual mob level info to the client for those mob, when it should fake it and pretend all mob are level 1 or something.
Some players may prefer to see mob color on Dream Island anyway (because some of those Killer Bees hurt like hell), but then that wouldn't be a completely authentic experience.
Ideally, it would be great to make the mob colour option two-tiered:
1. all mob colours
2. all mob colours except Dream IslandBut I don't think that's feasible.
